Who We Are
As a dynamic duo of Black American veterinarians, we are committed to creating raw, colorful, and
educational content regarding all things pets! You may not know it, but Black Vets are out there, and
we are vibrant specks of color on a traditionally white background.

OUR MISSION
The Mocha Vets cherish the benefits that pet ownership and our career field have to offer, and we exist to spread awareness of these benefits to our beloved pet owners in the Black community.
We do not discriminate or exclude any amazing pet owner, regardless of background! However, we recognize the reality of racial discrimination in America and the effects that it has historically had on Black representation in our country’s pet owner and veterinary workforce populations.
We are committed to representing and showing love to the Black pet owners and veterinary professionals that our country has overlooked. Black American representation in the veterinary field is slowly growing, but the fact of the matter is that we are still just a speck on an almost entirely white canvas. You can help us change that!
We hope to show Black veterinary students, aspiring veterinary or pet industry professionals, and others that there is a way forward and a future for Black Americans in the world of pets, big or small.
We intend to increase Black American representation in pet ownership and the veterinary workforce by highlighting Black professionals, Black-owned businesses in the pet industry, and pet-related content from a Black perspective.
It goes without saying that navigating an unfamiliar space can be frightening. With practical, everyday advice regarding topics like pet insurance and vet school, we show our brothers and sisters that it can be done!
We are passionate about empowering Black Americans in their veterinary dreams. By discussing topics such as the historical pioneers in Black veterinary medicine, we aim to inspire tomorrow’s pet-loving heroes.
